1. Surgical Pathology/Breast Pathology

Program Faculty

   Barbara Susnik, MD

Description:  Applications are invited for a 1 year Breast Pathology Fellowship.  The Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital is one of the largest referral centers for patients with breast diseases in the Midwest.  More than 4,000 breast specimens are evaluated in Surgical Pathology annually.  The fellowship is designed to provide comprehensive training in diagnostic breast pathology including standard diagnostic practices, and specialized techniques such as immunohistochemistry, molecular diagnostics (in situ hybridization. tissue-microarrays, FISH), electron microscopy and flow cytometry.  The candidate is expected to participate in the diagnosis of breast specimens. inter-departmental clinical conferences and basic/translational research.

Requirements:  Completion of a residency in anatomic pathology is required.  Candidates must be board eligible or certified in anatomic pathology.

2. Surgical Pathology/ Genito-Urinary Pathology

Description:  Applications are invited for a 1 year Genito-Urinary Pathology Fellowship.  Northwestern Memorial Hospital is one of the largest referral centers for patients with urologic diseases in the Midwest with 17 full-time urologists.  More than 3,500 GU cases are evaluated in Surgical Pathology annually.  The fellowship is designed to provide comprehensive training in diagnostic GU pathology including the use of standard diagnostic practices, and specialized techniques such as immunohistochemistry, molecular diagnostics (in situ hybridization, tissue-microarrays), electron microscopy and flow cytometry.  The candidate is expected to participate in the diagnosis of GU specimens, interdepartmental clinical conferences and basic/translational research projects.

Requirements:  Completion of a residency in anatomic pathology is required. Candidates must be board eligible or certified in anatomic pathology.
