Research Interests
I am a general surgical pathologist with a strong clinical and research interest in diagnostic pathology of gastrointestinal, pancreatic and liver diseases. Current research efforts are focused on several topics: 1. To identify diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets for small bowel and ampullary adenocarcinoma; 2. To study the pathogenesis of eosinophilic esophagitis and to identify morphological and molecular features that may correlate to the disease responsiveness to various therapeutic modalities; 3. To characterize morphological and molecular differences between hepatocellular carcinomas arising from hepatocellular adenoma and cirrhotic liver secondary to chronic hepatitis. Another important aspect of my research effort is to develop collaborative clinico-pathological studies with colleagues from different disciplines of medicine.
