Research Interests

My research work is focused on studying the mechanisms that regulate the transcriptional activities of nuclear receptors. Nuclear receptors constitute a large superfamily of transcription factors that regulate a diverse array of biological processes, including development and neoplasia, as well as energy and xenobiotic metabolism. In order to initiate transcription, some more factors are required to interact with nuclear receptors and to regulate their activities. These factors are collectively called "nuclear receptor co-factors". Several co-factors have been identified by our studies. Generating mouse models using gene targeting technology to investigate the functions of these genes is in process.
