Gynecologic Pathology

The Gynecologic Pathology service generates approximately 8,000 specimens annually, with approximately 3,500 additional surgical cases handled by the Perinatal Pathology service.

Education

Faculty deliver quality assurance meetings and lectures to residents and rotating medical students, as well as weekly tumor boards in collaboration with Gynecologic Oncology. The division holds several didactic lectures and lectures for reproductive medicine master's students each year.

The division offers one, one-year non-ACGME–accredited fellowship. The fellow will have graduated co-sign-out privileges of highly complex cases. Please visit the Gynecologic Pathology Fellowship webpage for more details.

Research

Faculty and fellows conduct translational research in the progression of uterine, cervical, ovarian and breast cancers. Research topics address diagnostic and pathophysiologic issues and target hot topics or fundamental questions in gynecologic pathology.

Patient Care and Consultations

The division reviews over 300 consultation cases annually from six divisions, the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and regional and national Northwestern Medicine hospital affiliates.
